In Ragusa Ibla on September 24, 2022, CISA (Ibleo Center for Astronomical Studies) presented the interesting initiative aimed at knowing the places where the astronomer Giovan Battista (Giambattista) Hodierna lived (1597-1660), one of the first colonizers and founders of Palma di Montechiaro.
Brief description
The route began at the point where the monument dedicated to him (Parking of Largo San Paolo – Repubblica) insists to touch other characteristic points, such as the church of San Giovanni Lo Vecchio (now Sant’Agnese), up to the “Specula” (Salita Specula behind the cathedral of St. George with an anciend astronomic observatory) where the church of St. Nicholas existed, to conclude with an astronomical observation at Giardini Iblei villa.
