Modica in 28mm shots

  • di

Ragusa, April 10, 2024 — Modica (ancient capital of the County of Modica – Contea di Modica –, Catalan and Italian state from the fifteenth to the nineteenth century) is certainly one of the most beautiful cities in southeastern Sicily, in the Val di Noto.

To give our readers the chance to admire something, as a first approach we armed ourselves with our Leica (especially the Q3 and M11 with various lenses) and traveled some of the most characteristic streets in the city. In this first photowalk we focused on Corso San Giorgio, Via Posterla, Via Raccomandata, Via del Castello, and then on Corso Umberto and Vicolo Franco Ruta (Bonajuto), with the various buildings and churches.

Particularly interesting we found the churches of San Giorgio and San Pietro, the birthplace of Salvatore Quasimodo (Italian writer and poet), the birthplace of Tommaso Campailla (Philosopher, poet and scientist of the seventeenth century), the Theater (Teatro Garibaldi). Baroque and Art Nouveau (Liberty) architectures make the city very pleasant to admire and experience. Let’s try to give an overall idea with some shots of the photowalk.

More episodes of this fascinating journey of ours will follow.
